A Brief Look at Paul Ryan’s Family Tree

Earlier this year, I did a series of blogs that took a brief look at the family trees of candidates who were (or who hoped to be) running for President of the United States in 2012. I will now continue the series by looking at the family tree of the Vice Presidential candidates. Here is a brief look into Paul Ryan’s family tree. This year, the Republican party selected Mitt Romney as their choice of candidate to run for President of the United States in 2012. It was very recently revealed that Mitt Romney selected Paul Ryan as his choice … Continue reading

Does Romney’s Family Tree Matter, Politically Speaking?

As we get closer to the 2012 Presidential election, people are going to start looking really closely at each of the candidates. How well does that candidate’s views match your own? This year, there has been some focus on the family tree of Mitt Romney. Does his family history matter, politically speaking? It is common for politicians to spend time emphasizing that they represent “family values”. This is not new. Both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama released videos that show, and tell, stories about what their life was like in their family when their children were young. Romney’s video is … Continue reading

Romney and Obama Have Different Family Stories

Genealogy is the study of family. This includes research that involves digging through archives, both digital and paper. It also involves the collection of family stories. Often, those stories tell more about a person’s family tree than the vital records will. Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have videos that are vastly different from each other. Each one speaks volumes. Technology is a wonderful thing. Genealogists can now take videos of their family, and send it to relatives that live across the country or around the world. You can take old family photos and create slide shows from them. Genealogists today … Continue reading

Mitt Romney, one of the Republican candidates who hopes to become the Republican nominee for the 2012 Presidential election, is turning 65. He is now eligible to sign up for Medicare, but he is choosing not to do so at this time. That isn’t the choice most Americans would make. Medicare is a public form of health insurance. Helen Radkey’s Research is Controversial

Helen Radkey is not a professional genealogist, but her research has gotten quite a bit of attention anyway. She has been keeping track of the names that are entered into the LDS proxy database, and making some of those names public – particularly the names of Holocaust victims. She has also taken an interest in the ancestry of Mitt Romney. There is a controversy involving the LDS church, and the proxy baptisms of people who were Jewish, and who were Holocaust victims. This is definitely a situation where the practice of genealogy, and religious beliefs, collide. The Church of Jesus … Continue reading

Mitt Romney’s Comments About Health Insurance

Mitt Romney was declared the winner of the Republican Primary in Florida. It is standard practice for candidates who win a State Primary to give a victory speech. Although the focus of Romney’s speech was not on insurance, he did include a few comments that relate to it. In the 2012 election, there can be only one Republican candidate. Those hopeful candidates will be battling against each other in a series of primary elections that will take place in several different states. The Republican Primary in Florida just finished, and Mitt Romney was declared the winner. It is customary for … Continue reading

In 1984, Mitt Romney was one of the founders of Bain Capital, which is a private … Continue reading
